Theconnectionbetweenouremotionalhealthandphysicalhealthisundeniable.Thosewhoarehaveajoyfulandpositiveoutlookarefarmorelikelytohavebetterphysicalhealth.It’snotaguaranteethatthejoyfulwillnevergetsick,buttheirabilitytorecoverandcopewithillnessisgreatlyenhanced.Conversely,thosewhorarelylaughorspendlongperiodsoftimeinoverlyseriousstateshavelessofanabilitytohandlethestressofillnessanddisease.Thosewithlongtermdepression–whattheBiblecalls“abrokenspirit”–oftenhavephysicallydeclininghealththatparallelstheiremotionalillness. Sowhatarewetodotoensurebothemotionalandphysicalstrength?Theanswerseemstobethatweshouldgiveefforttobeingstrongandhealthyinbothareas.Havingagoodlaughonaregularbasisandkeepingapositiveandjoyfulspiritwillbeablessingtoourbodies.Keepingourbodieswell-nourishedandactivewillbeablessingtoouremotionsaswell.
