ThePavilion,AlibabaGroup’sdedicatedsiteforpremiumbrands,isZegna’sfirstofficialthird-partydigitalchannelinthemarket,apartfromitsownsite.ThemovecomesasChinaispoisedtoovertaketheU.S.astheworld’slargestfashionmarketnextyear,accordingtoglobalconsultingfirmMcKinsey&Co. Thelimited-editionCFACapsuleCollection,developedspecificallyfortheChinamarket,includesnavyandredactivewear,T-shirts,jackets,sneakersandleatheraccessoriesinspiredbythenationalfootballteam’soff-fieldformalandcasualattire,whichhavebeendesignedbyZegnasince2016. TheMilan-basedgroupdesignedcertaindetailsoftheclothingandaccessoriestoreferencethecolorsoftheCFATeamChinauniformsasasupportfortheteam,whichwillcompeteintheAsia’sTopNationalTeams’TournamentinJanuary2019. Followingthecapsulelaunch,ZegnasaidPavilionshopperswouldbeabletoaccessafullassortmentofitsproductsbyMarchnextyear. ZegnawasthefirstluxurymenswearbrandtoenterChina,openingitsfirstboutiqueinBeijingin1991.Now,ChinaisaleadingmarketofZegna’sbusiness,withanetworkofover60physicalstoresin34ofChinesecities,includingremotebutfast-growinglocationssuchasXinjiang’scapitalofUrumqi. LiliChen,generalmanagerofTmallLuxuryPavilion,saidZegnawasaniconicbrandthathadsuccessfullybalanceditslongstandingheritagewiththoseinnovations. “We’reconfidentthatourpartnershipwillallowthebrandtobetterconnectandinteractwiththenewgenerationofconsumers,andtogetherexploreunlimitedpossibilitiesforNewRetail,”shesaid,notingalsothebrand’sdedicationtocharitablecauses. Thefashionhousesaiditwoulddonate5%foreachcapsuleitemsoldontheLuxuryPavilionbetweenDec.4andJan.31to“RisingStar,”ajointprogrambetweenTmallandZegnathataimstodevelopyoungsoccerplayersinChina. Priortothecapsulecollectionlaunch,thebrandalsopartneredwithCFAonatalent-developmentprogramthatwasaimedatempoweringyoung,emergingfootballplayerslaunchedinMay.PlayersselectedbythebrandandCFAareofferedthechancetoreceiveprofessionaltrainingabroad.InJuly,theprogramfundedthreeplayersagedbetween17-18fromChina’sunder-23nationalteamtoattendatrainingprograminRome.ThetripwasmadeintoashortdocumentarypremieringonZegna’sofficialsiteandTmallLuxuryPavilion’s“What’sonLive”channel,anewsectiononitshomepageforfeaturedbrandvideos,onDec.7. Launchedin2017,TmallLuxuryPavilionnowoffersabout80brands,includingValentino,Burberry,Versace,Moschino,StellaMcCartney,GiuseppeZanotti,MCM,LaMer,Maserati,KeringGroup-ownedQeelin,LVMH-ownedGuerlain,Givenchy,TagHeuerandZenith.Productsrangefromapparelandbeautyitemstowatchesandluxurycars.
