Theproductisthenconveyedupwardsbytheairstreamthroughashroudandbaffleassemblythatchangesthedirectionoftheproduct/airmixturewhiledirectingittotheclassificationzone.Theshroudandbaffleassemblyalsoprovidesaseparationofthemillinternalareaintotwozones;agrindingzoneandaclassifyingzone. Oncetheproductenterstheclassificationzone,theparticlesarepresentedtotherotatingclassifierwheel,wherebaseduponsizeanddensity,theparticleseitherpassthroughtheclassifieroroversizeparticlesarerejectedandflowbacktothegrindingzoneforadditionalsizereduction.Theprocessedproduct/airmixturethenexitsthroughthemilloutlet. Therearetwomainparametersthatareusedtocontrolandchangeparticlecutpointormaximumparticlesize;airvolumethroughthemillandrotationalspeedoftheclassifier.Theairflowthroughthemillgeneratesadragforcetoconveytheparticlestotheclassifierandtherotationalspeedoftheclassifiergeneratesacentrifugalforcethatrejectstheparticlesawayfromtheclassifier.Whenthesetwoforcesareequalizedforagivenparticlemass,thatparticlehasanequalprobabilityofbeingacceptedorrejectedatthefaceoftheclassifierwheel.Baseduponvaryingtheseopposingforceseitherthroughachangeinairvolume,orachangeinclassifierspeed,theparticletopsizecutpointcanbecontrolled.
