2. 「參加考試」是take an examination，英式英文則是講sit an examination。

「報名參加考試」是enter for an examination。

examination 後面通常接介系詞in。

「考試用書」是setbooks。

「考試卷」是test/exampaper，而「答案卡」是answersheet/paper。

例：Haveyoudrawnupthisexamination?這次考試的題目你出好了嗎？ 例：Theteachersetusmanytoughproblems.這老師給我們出了好多難題。

例：Thesetwobooksaresetforthisexam.這次考試考這兩本書。

5.「為了考試而填鴨學習」叫做cram，注意這個字可以是及物或不及物動詞。

例：Ihavetocramfortomorrow'stest.我得為了明天的考試苦讀了。

6.「考試不及格」用fail/flunk(in)anexamination。

「勉強及格」是scrapethroughanexam。

「輕鬆通過考試」是sailthroughanexam。

「考試成績很優異」是passtheexamwithflyingcolors或doverywellonanexam。

例：Donflunkedhischemistryexamination.唐化學考試沒過。

例：IscrapedthroughtheexamwhileDonsailedthroughit. 我勉強才能通過考試，但唐卻過得很輕鬆。

例：Howwelldidyoudoontheexam?那次考試你考得怎樣？ 7.「考試作弊」通稱cheatonanexamination。

「傳小抄」是passacrib。

「偷看別人答案」是copyothers'answers。

例：Whydidn'tyoupassacribtome?你為何不傳小抄給我？ 例：Johnwascaughtcopyinghisclassmate'sanswers.約翰偷看同學答案被逮。

8.「改考卷」是mark/gradeanexaminationpaper。

例：Theteacherisbusygradingherstudents'exampapers.那老師忙著改她學生的考卷。

9.「考第一名」是comeoutfirst，而「名列前茅」是comeoutatthetopofthelist。

「在班上考試成績墊底」是comeoutatthebottomoftheclass。

例：Ifailedtocomeoutfirstontheexambutcameoutlast. 我那次考試沒能考第一名，反倒是最後一名。

10.考試「有陷阱的題目」是acatchquestion，「猜中考試題目」是makeluckyshotsattheexamquestions。

「是非題」是atrue-falsequestion；「選擇題」是amultiple-choicequestion(一律是單選，英文沒有「複選題」)。

「申論題」是anessayquestion。

例：Imadesomeluckyshotsattheexamquestionsandpassedit. 我猜中幾題考試題目而通過了考試。

11.「不會做第一題」是cannottouchthefirstquestion。

「被題目難倒」是bebaffledbythequestions。

例：Unluckily,Icouldn'ttouchthefirstfivequestions.不幸地，前五題我都不會寫。

例：Iwastotallybaffledbythemathproblems.我被這些數學題完全考倒了。

12.「口試」是anoralexamination或interview(工作職場的)口試。

「筆試」是awrittenexamination。

「綜合考試」是acomprehensiveexamination。

「分班考試」是aplacementexamination。

「入學考試」是entranceexamination。

「資格考試」是aqualifyingexamination。

「研究所考試」是agraduateschoolentranceexamination。

「博士學位考試」是adoctoralexamination。

「公務員考試(高普考)」是acivil-serviceexamination。

「推薦甄試」是arecommendationexamination。

「初試」是preliminaryexamination。

「智力測驗」是anintelligencetest；「性向測驗」是anaptitudetest。

13.「期中考」是midterms；「期末考」是finals。

英語系國家通常沒有「第一次段考」，要描述可寫為thefirstmonthly/segmentexamination。

「抽考」是popquiz。

「補考」是amakeupexamination。

「可翻書考試」是anopen-bookexamination。
