感染症醫學會理事長黃立民則擔心，少了一個疫苗來源，目前只能全靠Covax，台灣拿到疫苗會更晚。

[[東洋藥品總經理施俊良(10.12)]]“東洋經過多次溝通，今日正式取得德國BNT的授權書，目前初步爭取到3千萬劑，而且其中1千萬劑，可以在明年第一季全數到貨，這款mRNA確實能產生，關鍵免疫反應以外，也是目前研發最快的疫苗之一”台灣東洋十月才開記者會，宣布德國藥廠的武漢肺炎疫苗最快明年初就能引進台灣，但昨晚卻發布新聞稿，聲稱德國BNT和衛福部在疫苗數量和價格經過多次協調未能取得共識，因此無法代理。

指揮中心出面解釋。

[[疾管署副署長莊人祥]]“有關透過東洋，購買德國BNT疫苗的部分，我們主要是因為跟東洋要求能夠提供BNT的正式授權文件，還有提供合約草案的部分，那由於東洋都沒辦法提供這兩樣文件，以至於我們無法後續再進行協商，那這是我們比較遺憾的部分”面對CDC打臉說破局關鍵是拿不到正式授權，東洋最新聲明強調，是取得德國BNT公司「有條件授權」，已提供疾管署備查，但由於部分商業條件未能成就無法繼續提供有效證明文件，具體是哪方面條件沒有明說。

[[台灣感染症醫學會理事長黃立民]]“目前如果東洋這件事情，沒辦法成功的話，就是我們少了一個疫苗來源，那我們就必須靠Covax，那Covax明年能不能供貨，能供多少，現在其實非常不確定，就代表可能我們得到疫苗的時間會往後延”這次代理破局，也讓外界擔心台灣在取得疫苗的起跑點已經先輸了一步。
