Th1:1:2:WegivethankstoGodalwaysforyouall,makingmention ofyouinourprayers;~ Th1:1:3:Rememberingwithoutceasingyourworkoffaith,andlabour oflove,andpatienceofhopeinourLordJesusChrist,inthesight ofGodandourFather;~ Th1:1:4:Knowing,brethrenbeloved,yourelectionofGod.~ Th1:1:5:Forourgospelcamenotuntoyouinwordonly,butalso inpower,andintheHolyGhost,andinmuchassurance;asyeknow whatmannerofmenwewereamongyouforyoursake.~ Th1:1:6:Andyebecamefollowersofus,andoftheLord,havingreceived thewordinmuchaffliction,withjoyoftheHolyGhost.~ Th1:1:7:SothatyewereensamplestoallthatbelieveinMacedonia andAchaia.~ Th1:1:8:ForfromyousoundedoutthewordoftheLordnotonlyin MacedoniaandAchaia,butalsoineveryplaceyourfaithtoGod-ward isspreadabroad;sothatweneednottospeakanything.~ Th1:1:9:Fortheythemselvesshewofuswhatmannerofenteringin wehaduntoyou,andhowyeturnedtoGodfromidolstoservethe livingandtrueGod;~ Th1:1:10:AndtowaitforhisSonfromheaven,whomheraisedfrom thedead,evenJesus,whichdeliveredusfromthewrathtocome.~ Th1:2:1:Foryourselves,brethren,knowourentranceinuntoyou, thatitwasnotinvain:~ Th1:2:2:Butevenafterthatwehadsufferedbefore,andwereshamefully entreated,asyeknow,atPhilippi,wewereboldinourGodtospeak untoyouthegospelofGodwithmuchcontention.~ Th1:2:3:Forourexhortationwasnotofdeceit,norofuncleanness, noringuile:~ Th1:2:4:ButaswewereallowedofGodtobeputintrustwiththe gospel,evensowespeak;notaspleasingmen,butGod,whichtrieth ourhearts.~ Th1:2:5:Forneitheratanytimeusedweflatteringwords,asye know,noraclokeofcovetousness;Godiswitness:~ Th1:2:6:Norofmensoughtweglory,neitherofyou,noryetofothers, whenwemighthavebeenburdensome,astheapostlesofChrist.~ Th1:2:7:Butweweregentleamongyou,evenasanursecherisheth herchildren:~ Th1:2:8:Sobeingaffectionatelydesirousofyou,wewerewilling tohaveimparteduntoyou,notthegospelofGodonly,butalsoour ownsouls,becauseyeweredearuntous.~ Th1:2:9:Foryeremember,brethren,ourlabourandtravail:forlabouring nightandday,becausewewouldnotbechargeableuntoanyofyou, wepreacheduntoyouthegospelofGod.~ Th1:2:10:Yearewitnesses,andGodalso,howholilyandjustlyand unblameablywebehavedourselvesamongyouthatbelieve:~ Th1:2:11:Asyeknowhowweexhortedandcomfortedandchargedevery oneofyou,asafatherdothhischildren,~ Th1:2:12:ThatyewouldwalkworthyofGod,whohathcalledyouunto hiskingdomandglory.~ Th1:2:13:ForthiscausealsothankweGodwithoutceasing,because, whenyereceivedthewordofGodwhichyeheardofus,yereceived itnotasthewordofmen,butasitisintruth,thewordofGod, whicheffectuallyworkethalsoinyouthatbelieve.~ Th1:2:14:Forye,brethren,becamefollowersofthechurchesofGod whichinJudaeaareinChristJesus:foryealsohavesufferedlike thingsofyourowncountrymen,evenastheyhaveoftheJews:~ Th1:2:15:WhobothkilledtheLordJesus,andtheirownprophets, andhavepersecutedus;andtheypleasenotGod,andarecontrary toallmen:~ Th1:2:16:ForbiddingustospeaktotheGentilesthattheymight besaved,tofilluptheirsinsalway:forthewrathiscomeupon themtotheuttermost.~ Th1:2:17:Butwe,brethren,beingtakenfromyouforashorttime inpresence,notinheart,endeavouredthemoreabundantlytosee yourfacewithgreatdesire.~ Th1:2:18:Whereforewewouldhavecomeuntoyou,evenIPaul,once andagain;butSatanhinderedus.~ Th1:2:19:Forwhatisourhope,orjoy,orcrownofrejoicing?Are notevenyeinthepresenceofourLordJesusChristathiscoming?~ Th1:2:20:Foryeareourgloryandjoy.~ Th1:3:1:Whereforewhenwecouldnolongerforbear,wethoughtit goodtobeleftatAthensalone;~ Th1:3:2:AndsentTimotheus,ourbrother,andministerofGod,and ourfellowlabourerinthegospelofChrist,toestablishyou,and tocomfortyouconcerningyourfaith:~ Th1:3:3:Thatnomanshouldbemovedbytheseafflictions:foryourselves knowthatweareappointedthereunto.~ Th1:3:4:Forverily,whenwewerewithyou,wetoldyoubeforethat weshouldsuffertribulation;evenasitcametopass,andyeknow.~ Th1:3:5:Forthiscause,whenIcouldnolongerforbear,Isentto knowyourfaith,lestbysomemeansthetempterhavetemptedyou, andourlabourbeinvain.~ Th1:3:6:ButnowwhenTimotheuscamefromyouuntous,andbrought usgoodtidingsofyourfaithandcharity,andthatyehavegood remembranceofusalways,desiringgreatlytoseeus,aswealso toseeyou:~ Th1:3:7:Therefore,brethren,wewerecomfortedoveryouinallour afflictionanddistressbyyourfaith:~ Th1:3:8:Fornowwelive,ifyestandfastintheLord.~ Th1:3:9:ForwhatthankscanwerendertoGodagainforyou,for allthejoywherewithwejoyforyoursakesbeforeourGod;~ Th1:3:10:Nightanddayprayingexceedinglythatwemightseeyour face,andmightperfectthatwhichislackinginyourfaith?~ Th1:3:11:NowGodhimselfandourFather,andourLordJesusChrist, directourwayuntoyou.~ Th1:3:12:AndtheLordmakeyoutoincreaseandaboundinloveone towardanother,andtowardallmen,evenaswedotowardyou:~ Th1:3:13:Totheendhemaystablishyourheartsunblameableinholiness beforeGod,evenourFather,atthecomingofourLordJesusChrist withallhissaints.~ Th1:4:1:Furthermorethenwebeseechyou,brethren,andexhortyou bytheLordJesus,thatasyehavereceivedofushowyeoughtto walkandtopleaseGod,soyewouldaboundmoreandmore.~ Th1:4:2:ForyeknowwhatcommandmentswegaveyoubytheLordJesus.~ Th1:4:3:ForthisisthewillofGod,evenyoursanctification,that yeshouldabstainfromfornication:~ Th1:4:4:Thateveryoneofyoushouldknowhowtopossesshisvessel insanctificationandhonour;~ Th1:4:5:Notinthelustofconcupiscence,evenastheGentileswhich knownotGod:~ Th1:4:6:Thatnomangobeyondanddefraudhisbrotherinanymatter: becausethattheLordistheavengerofallsuch,aswealsohave forewarnedyouandtestified.~ Th1:4:7:ForGodhathnotcalledusuntouncleanness,butuntoholiness.~ Th1:4:8:Hethereforethatdespiseth,despisethnotman,butGod, whohathalsogivenuntoushisholySpirit.~ Th1:4:9:ButastouchingbrotherlyloveyeneednotthatIwrite untoyou:foryeyourselvesaretaughtofGodtoloveoneanother.~ Th1:4:10:Andindeedyedoittowardallthebrethrenwhicharein allMacedonia:butwebeseechyou,brethren,thatyeincreasemore andmore;~ Th1:4:11:Andthatyestudytobequiet,andtodoyourownbusiness, andtoworkwithyourownhands,aswecommandedyou;~ Th1:4:12:Thatyemaywalkhonestlytowardthemthatarewithout, andthatyemayhavelackofnothing.~ Th1:4:13:ButIwouldnothaveyoutobeignorant,brethren,concerning themwhichareasleep,thatyesorrownot,evenasotherswhichhave nohope.~ Th1:4:14:ForifwebelievethatJesusdiedandroseagain,even sothemalsowhichsleepinJesuswillGodbringwithhim.~ Th1:4:15:ForthiswesayuntoyoubythewordoftheLord,that wewhicharealiveandremainuntothecomingoftheLordshallnot preventthemwhichareasleep.~ Th1:4:16:FortheLordhimselfshalldescendfromheavenwithashout, withthevoiceofthearchangel,andwiththetrumpofGod:andthe deadinChristshallrisefirst:~ Th1:4:17:Thenwewhicharealiveandremainshallbecaughtuptogether withthemintheclouds,tomeettheLordintheair:andsoshall weeverbewiththeLord.~ Th1:4:18:Whereforecomfortoneanotherwiththesewords.~ Th1:5:1:Butofthetimesandtheseasons,brethren,yehavenoneed thatIwriteuntoyou.~ Th1:5:2:ForyourselvesknowperfectlythatthedayoftheLordso comethasathiefinthenight.~ Th1:5:3:Forwhentheyshallsay,Peaceandsafety;thensuddendestruction comethuponthem,astravailuponawomanwithchild;andtheyshall notescape.~ Th1:5:4:Butye,brethren,arenotindarkness,thatthatdayshould overtakeyouasathief.~ Th1:5:5:Yeareallthechildrenoflight,andthechildrenofthe day:wearenotofthenight,norofdarkness.~ Th1:5:6:Thereforeletusnotsleep,asdoothers;butletuswatch andbesober.~ Th1:5:7:Fortheythatsleepsleepinthenight;andtheythatbe drunkenaredrunkeninthenight.~ Th1:5:8:Butletus,whoareoftheday,besober,puttingonthe breastplateoffaithandlove;andforanhelmet,thehopeofsalvation.~ Th1:5:9:ForGodhathnotappointedustowrath,buttoobtainsalvation byourLordJesusChrist,~ Th1:5:10:Whodiedforus,that,whetherwewakeorsleep,weshould livetogetherwithhim.~ Th1:5:11:Whereforecomfortyourselvestogether,andedifyoneanother, evenasalsoyedo.~ Th1:5:12:Andwebeseechyou,brethren,toknowthemwhichlabour amongyou,andareoveryouintheLord,andadmonishyou;~ Th1:5:13:Andtoesteemthemveryhighlyinlovefortheirwork's sake.Andbeatpeaceamongyourselves.~ Th1:5:14:Nowweexhortyou,brethren,warnthemthatareunruly, comfortthefeebleminded,supporttheweak,bepatienttowardall men.~ Th1:5:15:Seethatnonerenderevilforeviluntoanyman;butever followthatwhichisgood,bothamongyourselves,andtoallmen.~ Th1:5:16:Rejoiceevermore.~ Th1:5:17:Praywithoutceasing.~ Th1:5:18:Ineverythinggivethanks:forthisisthewillofGod inChristJesusconcerningyou.~ Th1:5:19:QuenchnottheSpirit.~ Th1:5:20:Despisenotprophesyings.~ Th1:5:21:Proveallthings;holdfastthatwhichisgood.~ Th1:5:22:Abstainfromallappearanceofevil.~ Th1:5:23:AndtheveryGodofpeacesanctifyyouwholly;andIpray Godyourwholespiritandsoulandbodybepreservedblamelessunto thecomingofourLordJesusChrist.~ Th1:5:24:Faithfulishethatcallethyou,whoalsowilldoit.~ Th1:5:25:Brethren,prayforus.~ Th1:5:26:Greetallthebrethrenwithanholykiss.~ Th1:5:27:IchargeyoubytheLordthatthisepistlebereadunto alltheholybrethren.~ Th1:5:28:ThegraceofourLordJesusChristbewithyou.Amen.~
